Q: Can acupuncture help your Qi and unblock the meridian?
A: In Chinese Medicine, there exists the meridian system throughout the human body. They are the paths of vital energy flow. There are more than 500 acupoints located at these meridians. QI, "vital energy", flows through these meridians to support tissue, muscles and organs. When the Qi is blocked in some acupoints or meridians, it shows the dysfunction or pain in tissue, muscle, and organs. Acupuncture can promote your "Qi" and unblock the meridians and restore your health.

Q: Is acupuncture safe during pregnancy ?
A: Acupuncture is safe to use while you are pregnant. Acupuncture treatments can be helpful throughout the pregnancy. Acupuncture can calm morning sickness , treat insomnia, edema, saciatica, and many of the other discomforts of pregnancy. There are some acupuncture points which are on the abdominal region that should be avoided. Our clinic safety for our patients is outstanding plus acupuncture is drug-free so the patients avoid the risk of side effects.

Q: How many treatments will I need?
A: Each person is different in body condition and reaction to acupuncture treatments. Since each person is unique, we provide every person with an individualized treatment plan. Normally, acute diseases heal much faster (acute muscle sprains sometimes heals completely with one or two treatments) than chronic diseases. In order to get the best result it is important for the patients to get treated early and follow the acupuncturist's treatment plan carefully.

Q. Can Acupuncture make a condition worse before it gets better?
A: After an acupuncture treatment patient will usually feel less pain or illness. Occationally, Musculo-skeletal pain worsens before it gets better. Acupuncture is smoothing out blocked Qi (energy) that is stuck in areas of your body. As garden hoses get kinks and the water stops running when you straighten the hose its increased pressure makes the water burst out in the beginning. This is what happens when you have acupuncture.
This initial pain should wear off within 24-48 hours and you will then notice the acupuncture has improved your condition.

Q: Is there proof that acupuncture treats pain effectively ?
A: In a series of recent experiments doctors reported at the 85th annual meeting of the Radio Society of North America that the proper placement of the fine acupuncture needle in the area between the thumb and forefinger called the Hugi point or large intestine 4 allowed subjects to tolerate great amounts of pain by sticking an acupuncture needle into a point in the hand. It can greatly diminish amounts of brain activity associated with pain impulses and pictures of the brain before acupuncture treatment, shows dramatic decreases in the brain activity - up to 70%.

Q: Is acupuncture safe for children ?
A: Yes! In some instances children actually respond more quickly than adults.If your child has an aversion to needles, we may massage the acupuncture points. This called acupressure or tuina. |
Q: What should I expect during acupuncture treatment
A: Where the acupuncture needles have been inserted, you may experience a vague numbness and heaviness,tingling. Sometimes people experience a sensation of energy spreading and moving around the needles. This is called the "Qi sensation". All these reasons are good and sign that the treatment is working. After treatment,you may feel energized or may experience a deep sense of relaxation and well-being. |
